How the Roller Assembly Works

The Durulite Retailer upper hinge system uses a roller and V-Cam to control door movement.

As the traffic door opens, the roller travels upward along the V-Cam. At the fully open position, the roller can rise approximately 1-3/8" above its resting position.

When the door is released, gravity causes the roller to travel back toward the lowest point of the V-Cam, helping:

• Return the door to center

• Hold the door in the closed position

• Maintain proper door height

• Provide smooth swinging action

This simple mechanical system allows the Retailer door to self-close without requiring a conventional overhead door closer.

Heavy-Duty Roller Construction

Chase specifies the Retailer roller assembly with a steel bearing roller mounted in a solid cast aluminum housing.

The roll pin passes completely through the aluminum roller housing and upper hinge post, securing the assembly and helping prevent the door from slipping or changing height during operation.
