Improve safety around commercial overhead and rolling doors with this 20' Commercial Door Pneumatic Safety Edge Kit.

Designed to detect an obstruction along the bottom edge of a closing door, the system uses a pressurized gum-hose sensing edge and air switch. When the edge is compressed, air pressure activates the switch, which signals a compatible commercial door operator to stop or reverse door movement.

This complete kit includes the pneumatic components and wiring needed for many commercial door applications and is designed to fit inside a compatible bottom astragal or weather seal.

How It Works

The gum hose is installed inside the compatible bottom weather seal or astragal of the commercial door.

When the bottom edge contacts an obstruction:

1. The pneumatic hose is compressed.

2. Air pressure travels through the sensing hose.

3. The air switch activates.

4. The switch sends a signal to the compatible door operator.

5. The operator stops or reverses the closing door.

This simple pneumatic design provides obstruction detection without installing an electrical sensing strip along the bottom edge.

Important Compatibility Note

This is a non-monitored pneumatic sensing edge system. Non-monitored air-wave systems may be appropriate for older commercial operators or as secondary entrapment protection, but many newer UL 325-compliant operators require a monitored external entrapment protection device.

Always verify the door operator model, wiring, control logic, and UL 325 requirements before installation. The sensing edge should also be manually tested regularly to confirm proper operation.
