Vertical Bolt Only | Bottom Rail Mount | Zinc-Plated Steel | Individually Boxed
Secure ultra-narrow stile and bottom-rail commercial door applications with the Adams Rite MS1861-01-603-IB MS® Bottom Rail Deadlock.
Designed for openings where there is insufficient vertical stile space for a conventional deadlock, the MS1861 mounts horizontally inside the bottom rail of the door. The -01 configuration provides a single vertical bolt that projects downward into the threshold for positive mechanical locking.
This configuration features a 603 zinc-plated steel finish and is supplied individually boxed with mounting screws.

Bottom Rail Design
The MS1861 is specifically designed to lie horizontally inside the bottom rail rather than vertically inside the door stile.
This makes it especially useful for:
-
Ultra-narrow stile aluminum doors
-
Tempered glass doors with bottom rails
-
Commercial doors with insufficient vertical space for a standard deadlock
-
Specialty storefront door configurations
Adams Rite does not recommend the MS1861 for wood doors.
Vertical Bolt Only – MS1861-01
The -01 designation identifies the single-point configuration with vertical bolt operation only.
The vertical bolt projects downward into the threshold to secure the door.
Bolt Diameter: 3/8"
Bolt Throw: 13/16"
For applications requiring both vertical and horizontal locking, Adams Rite offers the separate MS1861-02 two-point configuration.
Cylinder Requirements
The MS1861 accepts a standard:
-
1" long mortise cylinder
-
1-5/32" diameter
-
Adams Rite MS® cam
Compatible examples include the Adams Rite 4036 Mortise Cylinder or 4066 Thumbturn.
The lock accepts a cylinder from either or both sides.
Cylinder and thumbturn are sold separately.
Backset & Installation
For the MS1861-01 vertical-bolt-only configuration:
Minimum Cylinder Backset: Approximately 2-1/4"
Cylinder Centerline: 1-7/8" above bottom edge of door
For metal threshold installations, Adams Rite specifies a 7/16" drilled hole to receive the vertical bolt.
No separate manufactured strike is required for a typical metal threshold installation.
Lock Case Dimensions
Height: 1"
Length: 6"
Depth: 1-13/16"
