03 Function – Key Retracts Latch

Detex defines the 03 function as:

Entrance by trim when the latchbolt is released by key.

When the correct key is operated in the exterior rim cylinder, the trim mechanically retracts the exit-device latch, allowing authorized entry from outside.

The key is removable only when the lock is returned to the locked position.
