The EB-W system operates from a 9V battery and provides an approximately 100 dB audible alarm when an unauthorized exit attempt activates the device. It also provides pushpad monitoring, remote signaling, and remote bypass capabilities.

Detex describes the EB-W system as weatherized loss-prevention hardware designed for outdoor or wet environments and lists testing for driving rain and salt-fog exposure.

Alarm Operation

When the device is armed and the pushpad is activated, the internal alarm sounds at approximately 100 dB to alert personnel of an attempted unauthorized exit.

The EB-W configuration can be set for an indefinite alarm requiring manual rearming or a 2-minute alarm period followed by automatic rearming.

Cylinder Dogging

The CD – Cylinder Dogging configuration allows authorized personnel to mechanically dog the exit device using a cylinder rather than a hex dogging key.

Detex specifies a mortise cylinder for Value Series cylinder-dogging applications.

Cylinder dogging should not be specified on a fire-rated exit device where the device must remain positively latched. Detex specifies Less Dogging (LD) for fire-rated configurations.
