Offset Pivot Operation

An offset pivot supports the door differently than a conventional butt hinge.

The lower pivot transfers the door weight toward the floor-mounted pivot point, helping provide:

• Smooth opening and closing

• Reduced door sag

• Proper door alignment

• Consistent clearance at the threshold

• Reliable operation in high-traffic applications

Kawneer’s current hardware documentation identifies its offset pivot system as commercial-duty hardware and specifies vertical adjustment at the bottom pivot for proper door, frame, and threshold clearance.
