Designed for demanding retail, commercial, institutional, and industrial applications, the ECL-600 uses a 1" throw deadbolt and 3/4" deadlocking latchbolt to provide secure positive latching while maintaining the operation required of a properly configured fire exit opening.

The long operating bar is designed for 36" to 48" wide doors, and the factory photoluminescent plate clearly identifies the opening as an emergency exit.

Fire-Rated Exit Control Hardware

The ECL-600 is specifically designed for openings that require both fire-door positive latching and controlled secondary-exit security.

Detex lists the ECL-600 for:

Pair of Doors:
Up to 8'0" x 8'0"
Up to 3 Hours when used with the appropriate listed Detex fire-rated mullion configuration.

The actual rating of the opening depends on the listing and proper installation of the complete door, frame, hardware, and associated components.

Automatic Relatching

One of the major differences between the ECL-600 and a conventional alarmed deadbolt is its relatching design.

The device incorporates:

• 1" deadbolt

• 3/4" deadlocking latchbolt

The latchbolt automatically engages when the door closes, helping maintain the positive-latching function required at compatible fire-door openings.

1" Saw-Resistant Deadbolt

The ECL-600 incorporates a:

1" Throw Saw-Resistant Deadbolt

This provides additional security against forced entry at secondary exits.

Detex states that the device's attack-resistant design withstands more than 2,200 lb of outside pull force.

3/4" Deadlocking Latchbolt

In addition to the deadbolt, the ECL-600 uses a:

This additional latching point allows the opening to relatch automatically after the door closes, an important distinction for fire-rated openings.

Integrated 100 dB Alarm

Key Reset

Once the ECL-600 alarm has been activated:

Fire Door Compliance Note

A Detex ECL-600 by itself does not make an opening fire rated.

The complete opening must use properly listed and compatible:

• Door

• Frame

• ECL-600

• Keeper / strike

• Hinges or pivots

• Door closer

• Mullion where applicable

• Seals and gasketing where required

• Other required fire-door hardware

The door must properly close and positively latch after use.

The ECL-600's published three-hour rating applies only when it is installed as part of the appropriate tested and listed fire-door assembly.
