EEX-W Internal Blocking System

The key feature of the EEX-W system is its internal blocker.

Rather than relying on a magnetic lock mounted separately on the door or frame, the blocker is incorporated into the exit device itself.

When connected to a compatible logic controller:

1. The internal blocker secures the pushpad.

2. An attempt to depress the pushpad activates the weatherized monitoring switch.

3. The switch signals the external logic controller.

4. The controller initiates the programmed delayed- or controlled-egress sequence.

5. The controller releases the internal blocker when required.

This design allows the panic device itself to provide the delayed-egress locking function.

15-Second Delayed Egress

When incorporated into a properly configured Detex delayed-egress system, the EEX-W can provide a standard 15-second delayed release.

Detex's weatherized delayed-egress systems are designed to deter unauthorized exit while maintaining required emergency egress operation.

Important: The V40EEX-W device itself does not contain the delayed-egress logic circuitry.

The delay timing and system logic are provided by a compatible external logic controller, which is required and sold separately.

Logic Controller Required

A compatible Detex logic controller / power supply is required for delayed- or controlled-egress operation.

Detex identifies the 106595-1 Universal Logic Controller / Power Supply in a NEMA 4X enclosure as a commonly used controller for outdoor EEX-W applications.

The controller provides system functions such as:

• Remote signaling

Fire Alarm Override

The EEX-W system must be connected to the appropriate fire-alarm override through the logic controller.

During the required emergency condition, power to the blocker is released so the opening permits immediate egress.

Delayed- and controlled-egress installations must comply with applicable building and life-safety codes and receive approval from the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.

LD – Less Dogging

The LD designation means Less Dogging.

This configuration does not include a standard mechanical dogging function.

Less dogging is commonly specified where holding the panic device mechanically retracted is not desired or permitted.

RWE – Red Pushpad with White Lettering
