Fire-Rated Configuration

This 40 Series configuration is designed for use as fire exit hardware on compatible labeled fire-door assemblies.

Fire exit hardware differs from standard panic hardware because the door must maintain positive latching when closed.

For fire-rated openings:

• Mechanical dogging should not be used unless specifically permitted by the device listing

• The latch must positively engage the strike

• The complete door, frame, hardware, and installation must maintain the required fire-door listing

• Installation must comply with applicable building and fire codes

Exit Only Function

This model is supplied as Exit Only.

Pressing the interior push pad retracts the latch and allows immediate egress.

The standard exit-only configuration does not provide exterior entry.

If outside access is required, compatible fire-rated outside trim must be selected separately and must be appropriate for the complete labeled opening.

The medium-stile profile is designed for compatible commercial doors with sufficient mounting surface for the device chassis and rail.

Fire Door Compliance Note

Fire exit hardware must maintain positive latching.

Do not mechanically dog the latch in the retracted position on a labeled fire door unless the specific hardware and complete opening are approved for that function.

The device must be installed as part of a properly approved and labeled fire-door assembly in accordance with the manufacturer's listing and applicable codes.
