Designed for commercial and institutional openings, this heavy-duty Detex V40 combines a 15-second delayed-egress system with an integrated 100 dB alarm. When an exit attempt is made while the device is armed, the alarm sounds and the opening remains secured for the required delay period before permitting egress.

This configuration includes CD cylinder dogging, an FC3 3-foot flexible conduit kit, a 36" device, standard 99 surface strike, and 628 Satin Aluminum / Clear Anodized finish.

A 24VDC filtered and regulated power supply is included as standard with the Detex EE delayed-egress system.

EE Delayed Egress Function

The EE delayed-egress function is designed to discourage unauthorized exiting while maintaining life-safety requirements.

When an individual attempts to exit:

1. Pressure on the exit device initiates the delayed-egress sequence.

2. The 100 dB alarm sounds.

3. The door remains secured during the standard 15-second delay.

4. After the delay period, the opening releases to allow egress.

The delay gives facility personnel additional time to respond to unauthorized exit attempts while maintaining the emergency-egress functionality required for approved delayed-egress applications.

Fire Alarm Interface

Detex requires the EE delayed-egress system to interface with the building's fire-alarm system.

During a fire-alarm condition, the delayed-egress locking function is overridden to permit emergency egress as required.

Installation and use must comply with applicable building, fire, and life-safety codes and the requirements of the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.

FC3 – 3' Flexible Conduit Kit

The FC3 option provides a 3-foot flexible conduit kit that mounts to the exit-device end cap.

This provides a protected pathway for wiring between the electrified exit device and the building's electrical/control system.

FC3 does not indicate a fire rating.

CD – Cylinder Dogging

The CD Cylinder Dogging configuration provides key-controlled dogging of the exit device.

Detex's EE design allows a single compatible mortise cylinder to provide alarm arming and dogging functions.

Mortise cylinder is sold separately unless specifically included with the order.

99 Surface Strike

The V40 rim configuration uses the Detex 99 Surface Strike as the standard strike.

The rim latch engages the surface-mounted strike to provide dependable latching on compatible commercial door and frame applications.
