What Is Hex Dogging?

Hex dogging allows the pushpad of a compatible exit device to be mechanically held in the depressed position.

When the device is dogged:

• The door can operate as a push/pull opening

• Normal latching can be restored by releasing the dogging mechanism

This function is commonly used on commercial entrances that remain unlocked during normal business hours.

Common Applications

• Liberty rim exit devices

• Liberty surface vertical rod exit devices

• Commercial panic bars

• Storefront entrances

• Office buildings

• Warehouses

• Schools

• Retail facilities
