Combine video intercom communication and HID iCLASS credential reading at a single secured entrance with the Aiphone IS-DVF-HID-I Stainless-Steel Flush-Mount Video Door Station with Built-In HID iCLASS Smart Card Reader.
Designed for the legacy Aiphone IS Series, the IS-DVF-HID-I combines a wide-angle color video camera, hands-free audio communication, illuminated call button area, door-release capability, and an HID iCLASS R10 smart-card reader on one vandal-resistant stainless-steel faceplate.
The intercom connects to an IS-CCU or IS-SCU control unit using CAT-5e or CAT-6, while the integrated HID reader connects separately by Wiegand wiring to a third-party access-control panel.
The Aiphone IS Series is discontinued, making the IS-DVF-HID-I primarily a replacement, service, or spare component for existing installations.

Combined Intercom & Access Control
The IS-DVF-HID-I puts two separate security functions on one entrance panel.
Aiphone Video Intercom
Provides:
-
Visitor calling
-
Color video
-
Hands-free audio
-
Entrance monitoring
-
Remote door release
-
Visual call-status indication
HID iCLASS Reader
Provides:
-
Contactless credential reading
-
13.56 MHz smart-card technology
-
Wiegand credential data
-
Connection to third-party access-control panel
This allows the entrance to support both authorized cardholder entry and visitor communication.
Important Access-Control Design
The integrated HID reader is not controlled directly by the Aiphone intercom system.
The reader connects to a separate:
Third-Party Access-Control Controller
The access-control system is responsible for:
-
Credential database
-
Cardholder permissions
-
Access schedules
-
Credential validation
-
Access event logging
-
Reader LED / beeper control where supported
-
Lock activation through the access-control system
The access-control controller is not supplied by Aiphone.
Wiegand Reader Interface
The HID iCLASS reader provides standard Wiegand connections through a color-coded pigtail.
Typical reader conductors include:
Red: +10–16VDC
Black: Ground
Green: Data 0
White: Data 1
Drain: Shield Ground
Orange: Green LED
Brown: Red LED
Yellow: Beeper
Blue: Hold
Always follow the requirements of the connected access-control host.
HID iCLASS Technology
The integrated reader operates at:
13.56 MHz
and is designed for compatible HID iCLASS smart-card credentials.
This differs from the standard IS-DVF-HID, which incorporates an HID ProxPoint Plus reader using traditional 125 kHz proximity technology.
IS-DVF-HID-I vs. IS-DVF-HID
IS-DVF-HID-I
Uses:
HID iCLASS R10
Technology:
13.56 MHz Smart Card
IS-DVF-HID
Uses:
HID ProxPoint Plus
Technology:
125 kHz Proximity
The correct model should be selected according to the customer's existing access-control credential technology.
Reader Power Is Separate
The HID reader requires:
10–16VDC
This power is supplied from the access-control system or another approved limited-power source.
Do not assume the Aiphone IS Series intercom connection powers the HID reader.
The intercom and access-control portions are electrically separate systems integrated onto the same faceplate.
Reader Current Requirements
The HID iCLASS reader requires approximately:
80mA Average
and:
300mA Peak
The connected access-control panel or reader power supply must provide sufficient output capacity.
Reader Wiring Distance
Maximum reader wiring distance:
500 ft
between the integrated HID reader and the third-party access-control host.
Wire type and gauge should follow HID and access-control panel requirements.
Wide-Angle Color Camera
The IS-DVF-HID-I uses a:
1/4" Color CMOS Camera
with an approximately:
170° Horizontal × 100° Vertical
viewing area.
The wide-angle camera helps capture visitors standing:
-
Directly in front of the station
-
Slightly to either side
-
At different heights
-
Near the entrance opening
Digital Pan / Tilt / Zoom
Compatible IS Series master stations allow the wide-angle video image to be digitally manipulated.
Available viewing functions include:
-
Wide view
-
Digital pan
-
Digital tilt
-
Digital zoom
Because these functions are digital, the camera itself does not mechanically move.
White LED Illumination
The station includes a white LED illuminator to improve visitor visibility in low-light entrance conditions.
Minimum illumination is approximately:
5 Lux
The illumination assists the camera when visitors are close to the station.
Hands-Free Audio
The IS-DVF-HID-I provides:
Open-Voice Hands-Free Communication
The visitor does not need to hold or operate a handset.
When the call is answered, communication takes place through the integrated:
-
Microphone
-
Speaker
Call Button
The station includes a dedicated visitor call button.
Pressing the button sends a call to the programmed IS Series master station or call destination.
Call routing is controlled through the IS Series system programming.
Green Call-Answered Indicator
A visual status indicator provides confirmation when the call has been answered.
The station face identifies:
STEADY GREEN INDICATES CALL ANSWERED
This helps visitors know that communication with the building has been established.
Name Placard
A replaceable name placard is provided for entrance identification.
It can be labeled for uses such as:
-
SECURITY
-
RECEPTION
-
FRONT DESK
-
OFFICE
-
MAIN ENTRANCE
-
SHIPPING
-
BUILDING NAME
A blank placard was supplied with the original station package.
Built-In Door Release
The IS-DVF-HID-I also provides a separate built-in:
Form C Door-Release Contact
Connections include:
-
Normally Open
-
Common
-
Normally Closed
Contact rating:
24V AC/DC, 500mA
This output is controlled through the Aiphone intercom system.
Two Independent Door-Release Methods
Because the station combines intercom and access control, an entrance can potentially be released in two different ways.
Visitor Release
A building operator answers the intercom call and presses the door-release control at the IS master station.
Credential Release
The user presents an authorized iCLASS credential and the third-party access-control system releases the door.
These functions remain separate even though both are installed on the same entrance panel.
Higher-Current Locking Hardware
The built-in Aiphone relay is limited to:
24V AC/DC, 500mA
If the locking device exceeds this rating, use an appropriately rated:
-
External relay
-
Access-control relay
-
Lock power supply
Do not connect a higher-current lock directly to the intercom relay.
IS-CCU Compatibility
The IS-DVF-HID-I can connect directly to an:
IS-CCU – Central Control Unit
The IS-CCU provides:
-
Intercom station connection
-
System power
-
Audio
-
Video
-
Data
-
System programming
The station connects to the appropriate door/sub station port.
IS-SCU Compatibility
The IS-DVF-HID-I can also connect to:
IS-SCU – Add-On Control Unit
Each IS-SCU expands an IS Local System with additional master and door/sub station ports.
This allows the IS-DVF-HID-I to be added to larger legacy IS installations.
CAT-5e / CAT-6 Intercom Wiring
The intercom portion connects using:
-
CAT-5e
-
CAT-6
Maximum distance from the station to the compatible control unit:
980 ft
The RJ45 connection carries the applicable:
-
Audio
-
Video
-
Data
-
Station power
for the IS Series door-station portion.
Not a Standard Ethernet Device
Although the station uses CAT-5e/6 and an RJ45 connector, the IS-DVF-HID-I is a hardwired IS Local System station.
Its IS-CCU / IS-SCU station connection is not a standard Ethernet network connection.
Do not connect the station's intercom RJ45 port directly to a network switch.
48VDC Intercom Power
The intercom electronics receive approximately:
48VDC
through the IS Series control system.
Power is supplied from the:
-
IS-CCU
-
IS-SCU
according to the complete system architecture.
The main IS control equipment typically uses the:
IS-PU-UL – 48VDC Power Supply
Flush-Mount Installation
The IS-DVF-HID-I was supplied with a flush back box.
Back-box dimensions are approximately:
11-3/4" H × 5-13/16" W × 1-3/4" D
The finished station face measures approximately:
12-3/8" H × 7" W
This allows the electronics and wiring to be recessed into the wall while leaving the stainless-steel faceplate exposed.
