Electrify compatible Falcon 24 and 25 Series exit devices with the ACSI 1550K-MDF Motorized Latch Retraction and Dogging Kit.
Designed specifically for Falcon panic and fire exit hardware, the 1550K-MDF provides quiet 24VDC motorized latch retraction, allowing the exit device to be remotely unlocked through an access-control system, automatic door operator, time schedule, or remote-release circuit.
When energized, the motor retracts the latch while simultaneously depressing the pushbar into the dogged position for controlled free passage.

Falcon Exit Device Compatibility
The MDF suffix identifies this ACSI kit specifically for:
Falcon
-
24 Series
-
25 Series
Important
ACSI manufactures several different 1550K-MD motor-drive kits.
Each suffix is designed around a specific exit-device family.
The 1550K-MDF should only be used with compatible Falcon 24 or Falcon 25 Series exit devices.
Motorized Latch Retraction
When 24VDC power is applied, the internal motor retracts the exit-device latch.
This allows the opening to be electrically unlocked without requiring someone to manually depress the pushbar.
Typical controls include:
-
Card readers
-
Keypads
-
Access-control panels
-
Remote release switches
-
Time schedules
-
Building management systems
-
Automatic door operators
Simultaneous Electric Dogging
The 1550K-MDF provides:
Electric Latch Retraction + Electric Dogging
When energized:
-
The latch retracts
-
The pushbar depresses
-
The pushbar remains in the dogged position
-
The opening operates in a free-passage condition
When power is removed, the exit device returns to normal mechanical operation.
Electrical Requirements
Operating Voltage: 24VDC ±10%
Maximum Inrush Current: 1 Amp
Maximum Holding Current: 400mA
Wiring Leads: Non-Polarized
The kit requires a:
Filtered and Regulated 24VDC Power Supply
A properly sized power supply is critical for dependable latch-retraction performance.
Recommended Power Supply
ACSI recommends compatible:
Series 1400 Power Supplies
for motorized exit-device applications.
Power-supply sizing should account for:
-
Number of electrified exit devices
-
Simultaneous operation
-
Wire length
-
Wire gauge
-
Voltage drop
-
Additional system loads
Continuous-Duty Operation
The 1550K-MDF is:
Continuous-Duty Rated
This allows the exit device to remain electrically retracted during extended authorized unlock periods when properly powered.
Typical applications include:
-
Business-hours unlocking
-
Scheduled free passage
-
High-traffic commercial entrances
-
Automatic-door systems
-
Institutional facilities
Quiet Motorized Operation
The motor-drive system provides quieter operation than many conventional high-inrush solenoid latch-retraction systems.
This makes it especially useful in:
-
Hospitals
-
Healthcare facilities
-
Schools
-
Universities
-
Libraries
-
Offices
-
Hotels
-
Institutional facilities
Automatic Retry
The 1550K-MDF incorporates:
Automatic Retry
If the pushbar cannot successfully reach the electrically dogged position because of temporary binding or resistance, the electronic control can attempt another retraction cycle.
On-Board Diagnostic LEDs
Integrated indicator lights assist installers and technicians with setup and troubleshooting.
The system uses:
-
Green – Power
-
Yellow – Sensor
-
Red – Error
The indicators help identify operating conditions such as:
-
No power
-
Normal latch retraction
-
Failed pushbar retraction
-
Jammed hardware
-
Pushbar extension problems
-
Low input voltage
-
Electronics faults
Retraction Adjustment
The motor assembly includes an:
Adjustment Screw
which allows the technician to fine-tune the amount of electric latch retraction.
ACSI recommends setting the electric operation approximately:
1/16" Less Than Mechanical Latch Retraction
to reduce the risk of over-travel and damage to the exit device.
Device Length Compatibility
Before installing the kit, verify how much the existing Falcon device has already been shortened.
Standard 36" Device
Maximum Allowable Cutoff: 1-1/2"
Standard 48" Device
Maximum Allowable Cutoff: 7-1/2"
Important
A device shortened beyond these limits may not provide enough internal space for the motor-drive assembly.
Recommended Wire Size
For a two-conductor 24VDC circuit, ACSI provides the following general wiring recommendations:
-
70 ft – 22 AWG
-
110 ft – 20 AWG
-
180 ft – 18 AWG
-
280 ft – 16 AWG
-
450 ft – 14 AWG
-
720 ft – 12 AWG
System designers should also account for voltage drop and any other connected loads.
Manual Dogging Removal
If the Falcon exit device currently has manual dogging, the installation procedure calls for removal of the existing manual dogging components.
The 1550K-MDF then provides the:
Electric Dogging Function
A supplied hole plug is used for the former manual dogging opening where applicable.
Field-Installable Kit
The K in 1550K-MDF identifies the product as a:
Field-Installable Kit
Installation requires access to the exit-device channel and pushbar assembly.
Professional installation by a qualified commercial-door or access-control technician is recommended.
Factory Installation Available
The same motorized latch-retraction system can also be factory installed when ordering a compatible Falcon exit device through ACSI.
Factory modification may be preferable for new installations where the electrification can be completed before the hardware arrives at the jobsite.
Access-Control Integration
The 1550K-MDF can interface with compatible:
-
Access-control panels
-
Card readers
-
Keypads
-
Timers
-
Remote release switches
-
Relays
-
Building automation systems
-
Automatic door operators
Automatic Door Operator Applications
The 1550K-MDF is particularly useful where a Falcon exit device is installed on a door equipped with an automatic operator.
A typical operating sequence may be:
-
Credential is accepted
-
1550K-MDF receives 24VDC
-
Exit-device latch retracts
-
Pushbar reaches the dogged position
-
Automatic operator activates
-
Door opens
-
Door completes its cycle
-
Power is removed and the device returns to secure operation
Proper sequencing is important so the operator does not attempt to open the door before latch retraction is complete.
Panic & Fire Exit Hardware
The ACSI 1550K-MD platform is UL listed for compatible:
-
Panic exit hardware
-
Fire exit hardware
Important
On a fire-rated opening, the complete system must maintain its required listing, including:
-
Door
-
Frame
-
Falcon exit device
-

-
Power supply
-
Wiring
-
Control equipment
Always follow applicable building, fire, and egress requirements.
