Combine electronic access control with advanced lock and door monitoring using the ACSI ACL9080EU/EL-LMRXDPS Electrified Mortise Lock Body.
Designed around the Schlage L9080 mortise-lock platform, this configuration provides field-selectable Fail Safe / Fail Secure operation along with three monitoring functions:
-
LM – Latch Bolt Monitor
-
RX – Request to Exit
-
DPS – Door Position Switch
The ACL9080EU/EL-LMRXDPS operates on 12/24VAC or DC and is designed for commercial access-control openings where the system needs to monitor not only authorized egress, but also whether the latchbolt is fully extended and whether the door is actually open or closed.

Three Monitoring Functions
The ACL9080EU/EL-LMRXDPS combines three separate monitoring functions in one electrified lock body.
LM – Latch Bolt Monitor
The Latch Bolt Monitor monitors:
Full extension of the main latchbolt
This provides the access-control system with feedback indicating whether the latchbolt has returned to its fully extended position.
LM can help determine whether the door is:
-
Properly latched
-
Not fully latched
-
Mechanically held open
-
Experiencing latch alignment problems
-
Not fully secured after closing
This provides more detailed lock-status information than door-position monitoring alone.
RX – Request to Exit
The built-in RX switch monitors operation of the inside lever.
When someone operates the inside trim to exit, the RX switch sends a signal to the connected access-control system.
RX Can Be Used To
-
Recognize authorized egress
-
Shunt door-forced-open alarms
-
Log exit events
-
Coordinate security-system logic
-
Signal access-control software
-
Distinguish authorized egress from forced entry
Important
The RX switch is a:
Monitoring Function
It does not itself electrically unlock the exterior lever.
DPS – Door Position Switch
The Door Position Switch monitors whether the door is physically:
-
Open
-
Closed
ACSI uses a magnetic sensor incorporated into the mortise-lock assembly that reacts to a corresponding magnet mounted behind the compatible ASA strike.
This eliminates the need for a separate conventional door-position contact in many applications.
DPS Can Help Identify
-
Door closed
-
Door open
-
Door held open
-
Door opened after authorized egress
-
Door remaining open beyond the programmed time
LM vs. DPS
These two monitoring functions provide different information.
DPS
Answers:
Is the door physically open or closed?
LM
Answers:
Is the main latchbolt fully extended?
A door can potentially be physically closed without the latchbolt being fully engaged.
Using both monitoring functions allows the access-control system to identify this condition.
Complete RX + LM + DPS Monitoring
Together, the three sensors allow sophisticated door-state monitoring.
Normal Secured Door
-
DPS indicates door closed
-
LM indicates latchbolt fully extended
-
RX inactive
The opening is closed and latched.
Authorized Egress
-
RX activates
-
LM changes as latch retracts
-
DPS changes when door opens
The access-control system can recognize a normal authorized exit.
Door Closed but Not Latched
-
DPS indicates closed
-
LM does not indicate full latch extension
The door may be physically against the frame but not properly latched.
This can help identify:
-
Door alignment problems
-
Strike alignment issues
-
Obstructions
-
Binding hardware
-
Door closer problems
Door Forced Open
Depending on system programming:
-
DPS changes to open
-
RX did not activate
-
No authorized entry event occurred
The access-control system may interpret this as a:
Door Forced Open
condition.
Door Held Open
If DPS remains in the open state longer than the programmed time, the access-control system may generate a:
Door Held Open
alarm.
Field-Selectable Fail Safe / Fail Secure
The electrical locking function can be configured according to the requirements of the opening.
EU – Fail Secure / Power Unlock
Power Applied = Outside Lever Unlocked
Power Removed = Outside Lever Locked
During a loss of power, the exterior side remains secured.
Fail-secure operation is commonly used where maintaining security during power failure is required.
EL – Fail Safe / Power Lock
Power Applied = Outside Lever Locked
Power Removed = Outside Lever Unlocked
During a loss of electrical power, the outside lever unlocks.
Fail-safe operation may be required for certain life-safety applications.
Important
Fail mode should be selected based on:
-
Building code
-
Fire code
-
Life-safety requirements
-
Security requirements
-
Fire alarm sequence
-
Access-control sequence
-
Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements
Electrified Storeroom-Type Operation
The ACL9080EU/EL-LMRXDPS is based on an electrified L9080 storeroom-type mortise lock function.
Typical operation includes:
Outside Lever
Electrically controlled according to the selected EU or EL mode.
Inside Lever
Provides mechanical egress and activates the RX monitoring switch.
Main Latchbolt
Monitored through the LM switch.
Door Position
Monitored through the DPS magnetic sensor.
Key Cylinder
A compatible cylinder can provide mechanical override from the exterior.
Mechanical Key Override
When equipped with the appropriate cylinder, the key can mechanically retract the latchbolt even if the outside lever is electrically locked.
Key operation does not necessarily change the electrical state of the lock.
After key operation, the lock continues to follow the access-control command.
12 / 24 VAC or DC Operation
The ACL9080EU/EL-LMRXDPS supports:
-
12VAC
-
12VDC
-
24VAC
-
24VDC
This gives installers flexibility when integrating the lock into new or existing access-control systems.
Always verify:
-
Power-supply voltage
-
Power-supply capacity
-
Wire gauge
-
Wire distance
-
Power-transfer requirements
-
Relay ratings
Continuous-Duty Electrification
The lock is designed for:
Continuous-Duty Operation
This allows the electrified locking function to remain energized for extended periods when supplied with the proper voltage and power.
Typical applications include:
-
Business-hours access control
-
Scheduled unlocking
-
Stairwell control
-
Secure offices
-
Controlled rooms

-
Credential accepted
-
Door unlocked
-
Inside lever operated
-
Authorized egress
-
Latchbolt retracted
-
Latchbolt fully extended
-
