Add electronic access control and request-to-exit monitoring to a commercial mortise-lock opening with the ACSI ACL9080EU/EL-RX Electrified Mortise Lock Body.
Based on the Schlage L9080 mortise lock platform, the ACL9080EU/EL-RX combines electrically controlled outside trim with a built-in RX Request-to-Exit switch for monitoring authorized egress through the inside lever.
The lock supports 12/24VAC or DC operation and provides field-selectable fail-safe or fail-secure operation, allowing one lock body to be configured according to the security and life-safety requirements of the opening.
This listing is for the electrified mortise lock body with connector and RX switch. Lever trim, cylinder, rose or escutcheon, power supply, and other finishing hardware are sold separately unless specifically stated.

RX – Request-to-Exit Monitoring
The RX suffix adds a built-in:
Request-to-Exit Switch
The switch monitors operation of the inside lever and sends a signal to the connected access-control system when egress occurs.
This can be used by the access-control system to:
-
Recognize authorized egress
-
Shunt or suppress a door-forced alarm
-
Record an egress event
-
Coordinate door monitoring
-
Integrate with security-management software
Typical RX Sequence
A typical opening may operate as follows:
-
Door is closed and secured
-
User operates the inside lever
-
RX switch changes state
-
Access-control panel recognizes the request-to-exit signal
-
User exits mechanically
-
Door closes
-
System returns to its normal monitored condition
The inside lever remains mechanically available for egress according to the lock configuration.
RX Is Monitoring – Not Electric Unlocking
Important
The RX switch does not itself unlock the door.
RX is a monitoring function that detects operation of the inside lever.
Electric locking and unlocking are handled separately by the EU/EL electrification in the lock body.
Field-Selectable Fail Safe / Fail Secure
The ACL9080EU/EL-RX can be configured for the required electrical mode.
EU – Fail Secure / Power Unlock
In fail-secure operation:
Power Applied = Outside Lever Unlocked
Power Removed = Outside Lever Locked
If electrical power is lost, the exterior side remains secured.
This function is commonly used where security should be maintained during power loss.
EL – Fail Safe / Power Lock
In fail-safe operation:
Power Applied = Outside Lever Locked
Power Removed = Outside Lever Unlocked
If electrical power is lost, the exterior side unlocks.
This configuration may be required for certain life-safety or emergency-release applications.
Important Function Selection
The appropriate fail mode should be determined by:
-
Building code
-
Fire code
-
Life-safety requirements
-
Security requirements
-
Access-control sequence
-
Fire alarm interface
-
Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements
Do not select fail safe or fail secure solely on security preference when the opening is subject to code requirements.
L9080-Style Storeroom Operation
The ACL9080EU/EL-RX is based on the L9080 electrified storeroom-type function.
In a typical installation:
Outside Lever
Electrically locked or unlocked according to the selected EU/EL mode.
Inside Lever
Provides mechanical egress and activates the RX switch when operated.
Key Cylinder
A compatible key cylinder can provide mechanical outside access when required.
Mechanical Key Override
When a compatible mortise cylinder is installed, the key can momentarily retract the latchbolt even when the outside lever is electrically locked.
Important
Mechanical key operation does not necessarily change the electrical state of the outside lever.
The lock continues to follow the selected access-control command after the mechanical key operation is completed.
12 / 24 VAC or DC Operation
The lock supports:
-
12VAC
-
12VDC
-
24VAC
-
24VDC
This provides flexibility when integrating with existing or new commercial access-control systems.
Always verify:
-
Supply voltage
-
Transformer or power-supply output
-
Wire gauge
-
Wire distance
-
Relay ratings
-
Other connected loads
before installation.
Continuous-Duty Electrification
The electrification is designed for:
Continuous-Duty Operation
This allows the lock to remain energized during extended locking or unlocking periods when properly powered.
Typical uses include:
-
Business-hours access control
-
Scheduled locking
-
Scheduled unlocking
-
Stairwell control
-
Restricted-area access
-
Institutional security
Access-Control Integration
The ACL9080EU/EL-RX can integrate with compatible:
-
Card readers
-
Keypads
-
Access-control panels
-
Mobile credential systems
-
Time schedules
-
Remote switches
-
Building management systems
-
Security-management platforms
-
Fire alarm interfaces
Door Monitoring Applications
The RX output becomes particularly useful when combined with other monitoring devices such as:
-
Door Position Switch
-
Latchbolt Monitor
-
Security Monitor
-
Access-control reader
A complete system can distinguish between:
-
Authorized entry
-
Authorized egress
-
Door forced open
-
Door held open
-
Door not fully secured
depending on the additional monitoring equipment and programming used.
Life-Safety Integration
ACSI electrified locks can be incorporated into compatible life-safety systems.
A properly designed system may interface with:
-
Fire alarm controls
-
Emergency-release circuits
-
Stairwell unlocking systems
-
Building security controls
-
Access-control panels
The final operating sequence must comply with applicable codes and the requirements of the complete listed opening.
Mortise Lock Construction
The ACL9080EU/EL-RX installs as a commercial:
Mortise Lock Body
within the edge of the door.
Typical L9080 platform characteristics include:
Backset: 2-3/4"
Standard Door Thickness: Approximately 1-3/4"
Function: Electrified Storeroom / Controlled Entry
Inside Egress: Mechanical
Outside Access: Electrically Controlled
Request-to-Exit Wiring
The RX switch must be connected to the appropriate monitoring input on the access-control system.
Depending on the system design, the access-control panel may use this signal to:
-
Bypass a forced-door alarm
-
Log authorized egress
-
Initiate another control sequence
-
Coordinate door monitoring
Always follow the ACSI wiring instructions and the access-control panel manufacturer's requirements.
Fire-Rated Applications

For any fire-rated opening, verify the complete system including:
-
Door
-
Frame
-
Mortise lock
-
Lever trim
-
Cylinder
-
Electrification
-
RX wiring
-
