Designed as an alternative to conventional manual flip-lever flushbolts, the 1870 Series gives building management positive control over when the inactive leaf can be locked or unlocked.

Choose the 1870 for compatible narrow-stile aluminum doors or the 1870HM for compatible hollow metal doors.

Both models use a stainless-steel hex bolt with an 11/16" throw and operate with a full 360° turn of the key or thumbturn.

1870HM – Hollow Metal Doors

The Adams Rite 1870HM provides the same basic cylinder-controlled flushbolt function in a configuration specifically designed for paired hollow metal doors.

Backset: 1-1/4" Only

Standard distance from the cylinder centerline to the end of the door:

13-1/2"

Special cylinder heights are available for non-standard applications.

The 1870HM also features a larger armored faceplate and includes its matching strike.

Key-Controlled Inactive Leaf

Traditional paired doors often use manual flushbolts to secure the inactive leaf.

The 1870 Series replaces the conventional flip lever with a mortise-cylinder-operated mechanism.

This allows authorized personnel to control whether the inactive leaf can be:

• Locked

• Unlocked

• Opened for wider traffic

• Secured after hours

This helps prevent casual or unauthorized operation of the inactive door.

Header or Threshold Installation

Both the 1870 and 1870HM may be installed for:

Header Locking

The bolt projects upward into the header.

Threshold Locking

The bolt projects downward into the threshold.

Top & Bottom Locking

For increased security, a flushbolt can be installed at both the top and bottom of the inactive leaf.

Adams Rite recommends top-and-bottom locking in conjunction with the appropriate MS® deadlock on the active leaf where maximum mechanical security is required.

360° Operation

A full:

360° turn of the key or thumbturn

projects or retracts the flushbolt.

The key can only be removed when the bolt is in a positively:

• Locked position

• Unlocked position

This helps ensure that the flushbolt is fully projected or fully retracted before the key is removed.
