Provide secure, key-controlled locking for the inactive leaf of paired wood doors with the Adams Rite 1877 Cylinder-Operated Flushbolt.
Designed as an alternative to conventional flip-lever flushbolts, the 1877 gives building management positive key control over the inactive door leaf and helps prevent unauthorized or accidental locking.
The 1877 can be installed at either the header or threshold and uses a stainless-steel hex bolt operated by a standard mortise cylinder or thumbturn.

Designed for Paired Wood Doors
The 1877 is specifically designed for the:
Inactive Leaf of Paired Wood Doors
Traditional paired wood doors often use manually operated flushbolts.
The 1877 replaces the conventional flip lever with a cylinder-controlled mechanism, allowing authorized personnel to determine when the inactive leaf can be locked or unlocked.
Key-Controlled Inactive Leaf
Using a keyed cylinder instead of a manual lever helps prevent unauthorized users from casually:
-
Locking the inactive leaf
-
Unlocking the inactive leaf
-
Changing the operating condition of the paired opening
This is especially useful in:
-
Schools
-
Government facilities
-
Institutional buildings
-
Commercial properties
-
Controlled-access openings
Header or Threshold Installation
The 1877 may be installed in either orientation.
Header Installation
The bolt projects upward into the header.
Threshold Installation
The bolt projects downward into the threshold.
Top & Bottom Installation
For maximum mechanical security, Adams Rite recommends using flushbolts at both the top and bottom of the inactive leaf, particularly when paired with an appropriate two-point or MS® locking system on the active leaf.
360° Operation
A complete:
360° turn of the key or thumbturn
projects or retracts the flushbolt.
The key can only be removed when the bolt is in a positively:
-
Locked position
-
Unlocked position
This helps ensure that the bolt is either fully extended or fully retracted before the key is removed.
Stainless-Steel Bolt
The 1877 uses a durable:
3/8" Hexagonal Stainless-Steel Bolt
Bolt Throw
11/16"
The bolt engages the supplied strike at the header or threshold.
1-1/4" Backset
The Adams Rite 1877 has one standard backset:
1-1/4"
Always verify the wood-door preparation before ordering.
The 1877 should not be ordered based solely on its similarity to the 1870 or 1870HM.
Standard 13-1/2" Cylinder Height
The standard distance from the:
Cylinder Centerline to Door End
is:
13-1/2"
Other cylinder heights are available by special order.
Verify the required cylinder position before door preparation or ordering a special-length unit.
Mortise Cylinder Compatibility
The 1877 accepts a standard:
1" Long x 1-5/32" Diameter Mortise Cylinder
with an:
Adams Rite MS® Cam
Compatible examples include:
-
Adams Rite 4036 Mortise Cylinder
-
Adams Rite 4066 Thumbturn
The lock can accept a cylinder from:
-
One side
-
Both sides
depending on the required configuration.

Lock Case
