Provide secure locking without projecting handles using the Adams Rite 4189 / 4190 Flush Locksets.
Designed for compatible aluminum and hollow-metal sliding doors, these all-metal flush locksets project only approximately 1/10" from either side of the door stile, allowing sliding panels to pass closely alongside adjacent stationary or sliding panels.
A deeply recessed finger pull provides convenient door operation, while the integrated Adams Rite deadlock mechanism uses an adjustable, self-protecting stainless-steel anti-lift bolt for commercial sliding-door security.
Choose the 4189 for interior slide-button operation without an exterior cylinder or the 4190 when keyed exterior access is required.

Low-Profile Sliding Door Design
One of the major advantages of the 4189 / 4190 Series is its extremely low profile.
The hardware projects only approximately:
1/10" from either side of the door stile
This allows the door to slide freely past:
-
Adjacent sliding panels
-
Stationary panels
-
Other closely spaced door components
The low-profile design also makes these locksets particularly useful where sliding doors must stack into a wall pocket.
Interior Operation
Both the 4189 and 4190 are operated from the interior using a:
Vertical Slide Button
The slide button is recessed into the finger pull to minimize projection from the door face.
Moving the slide button:
-
Projects the deadlock bolt
-
Retracts the deadlock bolt
The deeply recessed pull also provides a convenient gripping point for manually opening or closing the sliding door.
4189 – Without Exterior Cylinder
Choose the:
Adams Rite 4189
when exterior keyed operation is not required.
The door is locked and unlocked using the interior slide button.
This configuration is useful for openings where:
-
Exterior keyed access is unnecessary
-
Interior control is preferred
-
A flush exterior appearance is desired
4190 – With Exterior Cylinder
Choose the:
Adams Rite 4190
when keyed exterior access is required.
The 4190 includes a flush-mounted:
5-Pin Cylinder
with:
Schlage “C” Keyway
The exterior key can:
-
Project the deadlock bolt
-
Retract the deadlock bolt
Standard 4190 units are supplied:
Keyed Different – KD
and include:
2 Keys
Special keying options may be available through the factory.
Adjustable Anti-Lift Deadlock
The lockset uses an adjustable stainless-steel deadlock mechanism designed for sliding-door security.
The bolt provides an anti-lift function, helping resist attempts to:
-
Pry the door from the jamb
-
Lift the sliding panel
-
Defeat the opening by vertical movement
The bolt reach is adjustable to accommodate installation and alignment requirements.
Self-Protecting Bolt
The deadlock mechanism incorporates a self-protecting bolt design.
This helps reduce the possibility of damaging the lock if the door is moved against the jamb while the bolt is improperly positioned.
Lock Face Options
Two lock-face configurations are available:
-09 Radius-End Lock Face
Specify:
-09
for a lock face with:
Radius Ends
-10 Square-End Lock Face
Specify:
-10
for a lock face with:
Square Ends
Always verify the existing door preparation before ordering.
Variable Backset
The 4189 / 4190 Series provides an adjustable installation range.
Minimum Backset
5/8"
Maximum Backset
1-9/32"
Backset is measured from the face of the lock to the centerline of the escutcheon and cylinder.
This variable arrangement provides flexibility when adapting the lockset to compatible sliding-door stile configurations.
Required Stile Depth
The minimum clear stile depth is:
Selected Backset + 9/16"
Verify the available internal stile depth before preparing or ordering the door.
Metal Escutcheons
The 4189 / 4190 Series uses:
Zinc-Alloy Escutcheons
with a:
Satin Silver Epoxy Finish
Both sides incorporate deeply recessed finger pulls while maintaining the low-profile design required for sliding doors.
No Latching Function
Important
The 4189 and 4190 are deadlock locksets, not spring-latching locksets.
There is:
No Latching Action
The bolt must be intentionally projected or retracted using the:
-
Interior slide button
-
Exterior key on the 4190
Do not specify these locksets where an automatically latching door is required.
4195 Dummy Set
For paired or matching sliding-door installations where a non-locking pull is required, Adams Rite offers the:
4195 Matching Dummy Set
The dummy set provides a matching appearance without the locking mechanism.
Optional 4413 Interior Pull
The:
Adams Rite 4413 Interior Pull
is available separately for compatible installations requiring additional pull hardware.
