Provide secure locking and self-latching protection for compatible wood-framed sliding doors with the Adams Rite 5017 Deadlock/Deadlatch.
Designed specifically for wood sliding-door applications, the 5017 combines a heavy-duty laminated stainless-steel anti-lift bolt with an adjustable, self-protecting design.
The bolt can be adjusted to compensate for door-to-jamb alignment, and if the door is closed while the bolt is projected, the bolt automatically retracts upon contacting the jamb—helping prevent damage and accidental lockout.

Designed for Wood Sliding Doors
The Adams Rite 5017 is specifically designed for wood-framed sliding doors where the deeper recessed jamb requires more backset than a typical aluminum-stile sliding-door lock.
It provides similar heavy-duty locking performance to the Adams Rite MS1847 while accommodating the construction of compatible wood doors.
Heavy-Duty Anti-Lift Bolt
The 5017 uses a:
Three-Ply Laminated Stainless-Steel Bolt
The bolt is designed to withstand approximately:
1,000 lbs. / One-Half Ton of Horizontal or Vertical Force
Its anti-lift configuration helps resist:
-
Door-to-jamb pry attacks
-
Attempts to spread the opening
-
Attempts to lift the sliding door from its track
Adjustable Bolt Projection
One of the key features of the 5017 is its adjustable bolt.
Bolt projection can be lengthened or shortened approximately:
3/16"
Adjustment is made using the exposed screw in the face of the lock.
This can help compensate for moderate:
-
Door misalignment
-
Jamb variation
-
Installation tolerance
-
Wear or movement in the sliding-door system
Self-Protecting Deadlatch Function
The 5017 incorporates a self-protecting bolt design.
If the sliding door is closed while the bolt is already projected, contact with the jamb causes the bolt to:
Automatically Retract
This helps reduce the risk of:
-
Lock damage
-
Jamb damage
-
Accidental lockout
-
Damage caused by slamming the door against an extended bolt
45° Operation
The lock requires only:
45° Rotation
of the compatible key cylinder or interior turn to:
-
Project the bolt
-
Retract the bolt
This short operating movement makes the lock convenient for sliding-door applications.
Cylinder Backset
The 5017 has a deeper backset specifically suited to wood-door construction.
Cylinder Backset: 1-3/16"
Including the faceplate:
Overall Backset: Approximately 1-1/4"
Always verify the door preparation before ordering or installation.
Lock Case
The stainless-steel lock case measures approximately:
Width: 1/2"
Height: 4"
Depth: 1-19/32"
The narrow case allows the mechanism to fit within compatible wood sliding-door construction.
Faceplate
The stainless-steel faceplate measures approximately:
5/8" x 4-1/2"
and features radiused ends.
Through-Bolt Mounting
The 5017 mounts using through-bolts.
These bolts also secure compatible operating trim such as:
-
Interior turn
-
Exterior keyed cylinder pull
This mounting arrangement provides a secure mechanical connection through the door.
4026 Cylinder Pull
For keyed exterior operation, the compatible:
Adams Rite 4026 Cylinder Pull
is available separately.
The 4026 is specifically designed for use with the 5017 Wood Door Deadlock/Deadlatch.
It combines:
-
Exterior door pull
-
Five-pin tumbler cylinder
-
Keyed lock operation
Available keyway options may include:
-
Schlage
-
Weiser
depending on configuration.
1015 Interior Turn
The compatible:
Adams Rite 1015 Turn
is available separately for interior operation of the 5017.
The 1015 may be used:
-
With a 4026 keyed exterior cylinder pull
-
With a 1016 exterior blank plate when exterior keyed access is not required
Always match the correct spindle and trim configuration to the door thickness.
1016 Blank Plate
The 1016 Blank Plate is available for applications where a keyed exterior cylinder is not required.
It can be paired with the 1015 interior turn for inside-only lock operation.
Door Thickness
Compatible trim configurations accommodate a range of wood-door thicknesses.
Depending on the selected trim arrangement, compatible doors may range approximately from:
5/6" to 2-1/4" Thick
Verify the selected cylinder pull, turn, spindle, and mounting hardware for the actual door thickness.
Optional 4810 Box Strike
For compatible wood-jamb installations, the:
Adams Rite 4810 Box Strike
is available separately.
The box strike provides a finished receiving pocket for the 5017 locking bolt.
ICU / Healthcare Applications
The 5017 can also be paired with the optional:
Adams Rite 4570 ICU Latch Operator
for compatible sliding-door healthcare applications.
The 4570 provides ergonomic handles on both sides of the opening and operates the 5017 in its self-latching configuration.
This arrangement is commonly associated with sliding doors used in healthcare and ICU environments.
