Three Operating Modes

The MS+1890 allows the same entrance to function differently throughout the day.

1. Business Hours – Free Entry & Exit

Both the:

• Hookbolt

• Latchbolt

can be retracted, allowing the door to operate freely for unrestricted traffic.

This is ideal during normal business hours when customers and employees require convenient entry and exit.

2. After Closing – Exit-Only Traffic

The deadlock remains retracted while the spring-loaded latchbolt engages the strike.

Compatible interior handle or paddle trim can retract the latchbolt, allowing convenient egress while helping control entry from the exterior.

This mode is particularly useful immediately after closing when employees may still need to leave the building.

3. Overnight – Maximum Security

The MS® hookbolt can be projected for maximum mechanical security after the building is closed.

This provides the heavy-duty pry-resistant locking performance associated with the Adams Rite MS® Series.

Key / Thumbturn Operation

A:

360° turn

of the key or thumbturn projects or retracts the MS® hookbolt.

An additional:

120° turn

retracts the latchbolt as well.

This allows both locking functions to be controlled from the cylinder when required.

Compatible Handle or Paddle Trim

Optional operating trim can be used to control the latchbolt independently of the hookbolt.

When compatible trim is installed:

The handle or paddle operates the latchbolt only.

MS® Maximum Security Hookbolt

The MS+1890 uses Adams Rite's laminated stainless-steel hookbolt.

The bolt features an eight-ply laminated stainless-steel construction.

The center ply incorporates an alumina-ceramic core designed to resist cutting attacks, while the hook-shaped design helps resist attempts to pry or spread the door away from the jamb.

Spring-Loaded Latchbolt

The separate deadlatch bolt measures:

5/8" x 5/8"

with a:

7/16" throw

The zinc-alloy latchbolt incorporates a Delrin face for smoother and quieter operation.

The latchbolt handing can be reversed as required.

It can also be held fully retracted when free-swinging door operation is desired.

Backset Options

The MS+1890 is available with three common storefront backsets:

• 31/32"

• 1-1/8"

• 1-1/2"

Mortise Cylinder Compatibility

The lock accepts a standard:

1" long x 1-5/32" diameter mortise cylinder

equipped with an Adams Rite MS® cam.
