Hands-Free or Push-to-Talk Communication

The DB-1MD provides two communication modes.

Hands-Free VOX

Press the TALK button once to begin hands-free voice-activated communication.

Push-to-Talk

In noisy environments, the station can also be operated using push-to-talk communication for improved control.

This flexibility makes the DBS-1A useful in:

• Offices

• Reception areas

• Warehouses

• Commercial buildings

• Residential entrances

Door Release

The DBS-1A allows the occupant to remotely release a compatible electric strike directly from the DB-1MD.

Aiphone specifies compatible door-release hardware rated approximately:

9.5–20VAC
70 Ohms or Higher Resistance

Recommended Aiphone strike:

EL-12S – 12V AC/DC Electric Door Strike

The DA-1DS entrance station supplies the door-release power, so a separate strike transformer is not normally required when using compatible hardware.

All Call & Room-to-Room Communication

Additional DB Series interior stations can be added to provide communication throughout the same tenant residence or office.

Pressing the CALL button allows an announcement to be sent to the other compatible interior stations.

Another station can answer to establish hands-free room-to-room communication.

Auxiliary Option Button

The DB-1MD includes an OPTION button with a Normally Open dry contact.

This can be used to control compatible external equipment such as:

• Exterior lighting

• Gate operator

• Garage-door control

• Auxiliary relay

• Other compatible low-voltage equipment

Contact Rating: Up to 24V AC/DC, 1.6A

Additional interface equipment may be required depending on the connected device.

Expandable DB Series System

The DB Series can support:

• 1 entrance

• Up to 4 tenants

• Up to 5 answering stations per tenant

Each tenant can use:

• 1 DB-1MD master station

• Up to 4 DB-1SD sub-master stations

This provides flexibility for larger offices, residences, or small multi-tenant properties.

Compatible Multi-Call Entrance Stations

The DBS-1A includes the DA-1DS 1-call door station.

For larger DB Series systems, compatible entrance stations include:

• DA-1DS – 1 Call

• DA-2DS – 2 Call

• DA-4DS – 4 Call

Each call button can be assigned to an individual tenant.

Optional DB-1SD Sub-Master

Add the:

DB-1SD – DB Series Sub-Master Station

to provide additional answering locations within the same residence or office.

The DB-1SD includes:

• Hands-free / push-to-talk communication

• Door release

• All Call

• Auxiliary option button

• Receive-volume control

• Chime-volume control

Optional Call Extension

For locations where the normal intercom chime may not be easily heard, the DB Series supports:

IER-2

Optional call-extension speaker.

RY-ES

External signaling relay for activating a compatible:

• Strobe

• Other notification device
