30°
-
45°
-
60°
A wall-mount bracket is also included with the answering station.
Included 8-Port PoE Switch
The IXS-HBDV includes an:
8-Port PoE Network Switch
The switch supplies the Ethernet connectivity and PoE required by the included IX devices.
Because the PoE switch is already included, a separate PoE switch is not required for the basic two-station kit.
Aiphone's current product page identifies the included equipment simply as an 8-port PoE switch and does not publish a specific switch model or detailed power budget as part of the IXS-HBDV product specification.
Why PoE Simplifies Installation
Power over Ethernet allows the system to transmit:
-
Network data
-
Intercom audio
-
Intercom video
-
Device power
using the network connection.
This reduces the need to provide a separate local power supply at each included station.
Preprogrammed Plug-and-Play Operation
The major advantage of the IXS-HBDV is that the included Aiphone stations are already configured to operate together.
Aiphone describes the kit as:
Plug N' Play
and:
Ready to Install
For the included basic system, the installer does not need to build the IX project from scratch in the IX Support Tool.
This significantly reduces commissioning time for a simple:
1 Door Station × 1 Answering Station
installation.
Typical System Layout
A basic IXS-HBDV installation is:

IX-MV7-HB Answering Station
When a visitor presses the IX-DV call button:
-
The IX-MV7-HB receives the call.
-
Video from the IX-DV appears on the 7" touchscreen.
-
The operator answers hands-free or with the privacy handset.
-
The operator communicates with the visitor.
-
The associated entrance can be released when appropriate.
USB Configuration Drive
Aiphone includes a USB drive containing the original system configuration and instructional material.
The USB drive includes:
-
IX Series Kit Configuration File
-
Video 1 – Import IX Series Configuration File
-
Video 2 – Setting Date and Time
-
Video 3 – Adding a Door Station
-
Video 4 – Adding a Master Station
-
Video 5 – Adding an IXW-MA
The configuration file provides an important backup of the factory-programmed system.
Keep the USB drive with the project's service documentation after installation.
Expandable IX Series Architecture
Although the IXS-HBDV begins as a simple two-station system, it uses standard IX Series equipment rather than proprietary kit-only devices.
That means a qualified installer can expand or modify the system using compatible IX equipment and the appropriate Aiphone programming tools.
Potential additions can include:
-
Additional IX door stations
-
Additional answering stations
-
PC answering stations
-
Remote relay adaptors
-
Emergency stations
-
Paging stations
-
SIP integration
-
Compatible ONVIF cameras
Additional equipment requires appropriate system programming.
Important Expansion Note
The original included pair is preprogrammed.
Adding equipment is different.
When adding another:
-
Door station
-
Answering station
-
Relay adaptor
-
Other IX component
the installer must update the system configuration using the applicable Aiphone programming procedure.
The plug-and-play description applies to the original preconfigured kit.
Video Visitor Identification
The IX-DV camera sends visitor video directly to the IX-MV7-HB answering station.
This allows the operator to visually identify a visitor before granting entry.
The system is suitable for:
-
Front entrances
-
Employee entrances
-
Security vestibules
-
Reception entrances
-
Office doors
-
Warehouse offices
-
Commercial facilities
Hands-Free or Private Communication
The IX-MV7-HB provides three communication methods.
Hands-Free Full Duplex
Allows normal two-way conversation through the station speaker and microphone.
Push-to-Talk
Useful in noisy environments.
Privacy Handset
Allows the operator to communicate through the handset without broadcasting the conversation through the room speaker.
Door Release
The included IX-DV provides programmable contact outputs that can be used as part of a door-release system.
The operator can answer the visitor and activate door release from the IX-MV7-HB.
Compatible applications may include:
-
Electric strikes
-
Access-control inputs
-
Gate interfaces
-
External lock relays
Locking hardware and its required power supply are not included with the IXS-HBDV.
Always verify electrical load requirements before connecting door hardware directly to an IX relay.
Remote Secure Relay Option
For entrances where the release relay should be located inside the secured building rather than at the exterior station, an appropriate current Aiphone remote I/O adaptor such as the:
IXW-MAA
can be added.
This allows door-control wiring to terminate in a protected interior equipment location.
Additional programming is required.
Entrance Monitoring
The IX-MV7-HB can monitor compatible IX stations.
This allows an operator to view or listen at the entrance even when a visitor has not initiated a call, subject to system configuration.
ONVIF Integration
Both the IX platform and included stations support video-security integration.
The IX-DV can provide compatible network video, and the IX-MV7-HB supports Picture-in-Picture with an associated compatible:
ONVIF Profile S IP Camera
For example, the operator can view:
-
Close-up video from the IX-DV
and:
-
Wider surveillance video from a nearby IP camera
during the same entrance interaction.
Third-party camera compatibility should be verified before installation.
SIP Integration
The included IX components are SIP capable.
This makes future integration with compatible:
-
SIP servers
-
IP PBXs
-
VoIP platforms
-
Aiphone IXW-PBXA
possible where required.
SIP integration is not required to operate the basic IXS-HBDV kit.
Local Recording
The IX-DV and IX-MV7-HB support applicable recording functions using compatible:
microSD Cards
microSD cards are not included.
Recording capability can be useful for documenting entrance communication and visitor activity.
Network Cabling
Use suitable:
-
CAT-5e
-
CAT-6
Ethernet cable for the IP connections.
Standard Ethernet topology generally allows a maximum network segment of:
330 ft / 100 m
between a station and the applicable network node.
Network cabling is not listed by Aiphone as an included IXS-HBDV kit component.
IX-DV Environmental Protection
The included exterior door station is rated:
IP54
for applicable weather resistance and:
IK08
for impact resistance.
Operating temperature:
-40°F to 140°F
This makes the IX-DV suitable for many exterior commercial entrance applications when properly installed.
Indoor Answering Station
The IX-MV7-HB is an indoor station.
Operating temperature:
32°F to 104°F
Install the answering station in an appropriate protected interior location such as:
-
Reception desk
-
Security office
-
Administrative office
-
Guard desk
-
Property-management office
