Audio-Only Sub-Master Station

The KC-1SD provides the communication and door-control functions of a KC Series interior sub station without a video display.

This makes it ideal for secondary locations where a full video monitor is unnecessary, such as:

Users can still communicate with a visitor and release the entrance door from the KC-1SD.

Maximum Sub Stations

A KC Series system supports up to two optional sub stations in addition to the main KC-1GRD station.

The optional stations can be configured using compatible:

• KC-1HRD video sub stations

• KC-1SD audio-only sub-master stations

This allows a KC system to provide entrance communication at up to three interior locations.

Door Call Operation

When the entrance station calls:

• A 4-tone chime sounds

• The red call LED flashes

• Call indication continues for approximately 30 seconds

Lift the KC-1SD handset to communicate with the visitor.

Communication is timed for approximately 2-1/2 minutes.

Door Release

After identifying the visitor, press and hold the DOOR RELEASE button to activate the compatible entrance locking system.

The KC-1SD can therefore provide convenient remote release of a compatible:

• Electric strike

• Door-release relay

• Entrance locking system

Associated lock hardware and power equipment are sold separately.

All Call & Internal Communication

The KC-1SD includes an ALL CALL button for internal communication between compatible KC Series interior stations.

To place an internal call:

1. Lift the handset.

2. Press the ALL CALL button.

3. A pre-tone sounds.

4. Speak to the other compatible stations.

5. Another station can lift its handset to respond.

This allows the KC Series to function as both an entrance intercom and an internal communication system.

Door Call Transfer

An entrance call can also be transferred to another compatible interior station.

This is useful when the person answering the visitor needs another office or room to handle the call.

Adjustable Chime Volume

The KC-1SD includes a front-accessible TONE control for adjusting the door-call chime.

The chime can be:

• Increased

• Decreased

• Turned off

This makes the station adaptable to different room environments.

The KC-1SD uses a 2-pair cable arrangement between compatible KC interior stations.
