Restore proper latch engagement on a compatible Detex exit device with the Detex 100855-1 98 Strike Kit.

The Detex 98 Strike is a half-mortise strike designed for commercial exit-device applications where a surface-mounted 99 strike may not be appropriate. It is commonly used on glass-door and narrow-stile applications and can be shimmed during installation to provide proper alignment with the exit-device latchbolt.

The kit also includes a strike shield to help protect the latch engagement area against tampering.

What's Included

Detex identifies the 100855-1 kit as including:

• 100480 – 98 Mortise Strike

• 100482 – 98 Mortise Strike Shim

• 100481 – 98 Strike Shield

• Required installation / mounting screws

These components are identified as 10C, 10D, and 10E in Detex parts diagrams.

Important Parts Clarification

The 100855-1 does not contain three separate strikes.

In the Detex parts breakdown:

10C = 100480 Mortise Strike
10D = 100482 Strike Shim
10E = 100481 Strike Shield

Together, these components make up the complete 98 Strike Kit.

Half-Mortise Installation

The 98 strike installs partially recessed into the door frame and is secured with two mounting screws.

During installation, the supplied shim can be used as necessary to position the strike for proper engagement with the exit-device latchbolt.

The protective shield installs around the strike area to help reduce unauthorized manipulation of the latch.

Typical Glass-Door Application

Detex specifically notes that the 98 Strike is typically used on glass doors.

It is a useful option for commercial aluminum and glass entrances where the opening configuration requires a half-mortise strike rather than the standard surface-mounted Detex 99 strike.

Compatible Detex Applications

The 100855-1 appears in Detex service documentation for compatible:

• Detex V40 Value Series exit devices

• Detex Advantex 10 Series exit devices

• Detex Advantex 40 Series exit devices

• Commercial rim exit-device applications configured for a 98 Strike
