When the pushpad is depressed, the EX W switch changes contact state, allowing the exit device to signal compatible access-control, security, alarm, or monitoring equipment.

EX W – Weatherized Request-to-Exit

The EX W option provides a weatherized electrical switch that monitors operation of the panic-device pushpad.

When the pushpad is depressed, the switch can signal compatible equipment such as:

• Access-control panels

• Security systems

• Remote horns

• Strobe lights

• Building-monitoring systems

• Separate delayed-egress controllers

This allows the V40 to provide a Request-to-Exit signal while maintaining normal mechanical panic-hardware operation.

Important EX W vs. EXV W Difference

The EX W is intended primarily for low-current signaling.

For applications requiring the exit-device switch to directly handle higher current or shunt power to an electromagnetic lock, Detex specifies the separate EXV W high-current weatherized option.
