18" Stainless Steel Armored Flex | 1/4" ID | Surface-Mount Power Transfer for Electrified Doors
Provide a simple, economical wiring path between the door frame and electrified door hardware with the SDC PT-2U Surface-Mount Power Transfer Door Loop.
Designed by Security Door Controls (SDC), the PT-2U uses an 18" stainless-steel armored flexible conduit to route field-supplied wiring from the frame into the door for compatible electric locks, exit devices, and access-control hardware.
The surface-mounted design makes the PT-2U an excellent choice for retrofit and new-installation projects where a concealed mortise power transfer is not required.

Ideal for access-control and electrified door systems
Surface-Mount Power Transfer
The PT-2U creates a protected pathway between the stationary frame and moving door.
Field wiring is routed through the armored flexible conduit, allowing compatible electrical hardware mounted in or on the door to connect back to the building's access-control or power system.
Typical applications include:
-
Electrified locksets
-
Electric mortise locks
-
Electric cylindrical locks
-
Electrified exit devices
-
Electric latch retraction
-
Request-to-exit devices
-
Door monitoring circuits
-
Other compatible low-voltage door hardware
18" Stainless Steel Armored Flex
The PT-2U uses:
18" Stainless Steel Armored Flexible Conduit
The armored construction helps protect electrical wiring as the door repeatedly opens and closes.
Inside Diameter: 1/4"
The installer supplies the conductors required for the connected door hardware.
Less Wires
The PT-2U is supplied without electrical conductors.
This allows the installer to select the appropriate wiring based on the requirements of the connected device.
Before installation, verify:
-
Number of conductors
-
Wire gauge
-
Voltage
-
Current draw
-
Signal requirements
-
Connected hardware
-
Access-control system requirements
Up to 180° Door Opening
SDC specifies the PT-2U for door travel of up to approximately:
180°
Actual usable opening angle depends on installation location, door geometry, frame conditions, and available clearance.
Recommended Door & Frame Applications
SDC recommends the PT Series surface loops for use with:
-
Hollow metal frames
-
Aluminum frames
The PT-2U is well suited for commercial openings where exposed surface-mounted power transfer is acceptable.

PT-2U vs. Concealed Power Transfer
PT-2U Surface Loop
Best when:
-
Simple installation is desired
-
Retrofit installation is required
-
Surface-mounted conduit is acceptable
-
Installer needs flexibility in wire selection
-
Cost-effective power transfer is the priority
Concealed Mortise Power Transfer
Better when:
-
Wiring must be concealed
-
Increased tamper resistance is needed
-
Architectural appearance is a priority
-
Door and frame can accommodate mortised hardware
Important Fire-Rated Opening Note
The PT-2U should not be assumed to carry the same fire-door listing as SDC's PT-5 concealed power transfer.
SDC specifically identifies its UL 10C 3-hour fire-test certification with the PT-5, not the PT-2U.
For fire-rated openings, verify that the selected power-transfer device is approved for the complete rated assembly before installation.
Installation Notes
Before installation, verify:
-
Door handing
-
Maximum door swing
-
Mounting location
-
Conduit clearance
-
Frame construction
-
Required conductor count
-
Wire gauge
-
Voltage
-
Current requirements
-
Connected electrified hardware
Allow enough conduit movement for the door to reach its required opening angle without stretching, pinching, or sharply bending the armored loop.
