EE – Delayed Egress
When the device is armed and an unauthorized exit attempt occurs:
-
Pressure on the exit device initiates the delayed-egress sequence.
-
An approximately 100 dB alarm sounds.
-
The opening remains secured for the required 15-second delay.
-
After the delayed-egress period, egress is permitted in accordance with the system's approved configuration.
This delay gives facility personnel time to respond while maintaining required life-safety operation.
ER – Electric Latch Retraction
The ER Electric Latch Retraction function provides powered retraction of the exit-device latch for authorized operation.
When activated by a compatible controller or access-control system, the latch can be electrically retracted for:
-
Card-reader access
-
Keypad access
-
Remote unlocking
-
Remote dogging
-
Automatic-door operation
-
Authorized entry and exit
Latch retraction allows the opening to operate without requiring a separate electric strike or magnetic lock.
Important EE ER Function Distinction
EE and ER are two separate functions working within the same exit device.
The EE function controls unauthorized exit attempts using the delayed-egress sequence.
The ER function provides powered latch retraction when an authorized electrical signal is received from the access-control or door-control system.
Do not interpret ER to mean that the latch automatically motor-retracts simply because the 15-second delayed-egress timer expires. ER is primarily the powered latch-retraction function used for authorized control of the opening.
Fire Alarm Interface
A properly configured delayed-egress system requires connection to the building's fire-alarm or approved life-safety system.
During the required emergency condition, the system provides an override for immediate egress.
Installation must comply with applicable building, fire, accessibility, and life-safety codes and the requirements of the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Logic Controller / Power Supply Required
The 10-EE ER requires a compatible Detex logic controller / power supply, which is sold separately.
Controller selection depends on factors such as:
-
Single or paired doors
-
Access-control requirements
-
Automatic operator integration
-
Battery-backup requirements
-
System configuration
-
Required delayed-egress options
Verify the current Detex controller requirements before ordering the complete system.
99 Surface Strike
The 99 Surface Strike is the standard Detex rim-device strike and provides secure engagement of the exit-device latch with a compatible commercial door frame.
630 Satin Stainless Steel
The 630 / US32D Satin Stainless Steel finish provides excellent durability and a professional commercial appearance for demanding high-traffic openings.
