The Detex EAX-2500S Exit Alarm is a commercial-grade, surface-mounted door security alarm designed to provide immediate audible notification when a secured emergency or restricted exit door is opened without authorization.

Powered by an external AC/DC hardwired power source, the EAX-2500S delivers an approximately 100 dB piezo alarm to alert facility personnel when a protected door is violated.

Its compact design fits a standard 4" x 4" double switch/outlet box, making it a practical solution for retail, healthcare, educational, institutional, warehouse, and commercial security applications.

How It Works

When the EAX-2500S is armed, it monitors the protected door through a compatible magnetic door contact.

If the door is opened without authorization, the alarm activates its approximately 100 dB horn, providing an immediate audible warning that the exit has been violated.

The alarm remains an effective way to discourage unauthorized use of emergency exits while allowing the door itself to remain available for required egress.

Hardwired Power

The EAX-2500S is designed for external AC/DC power, providing a dependable hardwired solution for facilities that do not want to rely solely on battery-powered exit alarms.

An optional 9V battery backup can provide additional protection during loss of normal power.

The base EAX-2500S does not include the required transformer. Detex's complete EAX-2500SK kit is the configuration that includes a transformer and surface magnetic contact.

Remote Signal Output

The EAX-2500 Series includes a relay output that can be used to signal compatible external security accessories.

Depending on the system design, this can allow the exit alarm to interface with devices such as:

• Remote horns

• Strobes

• Security monitoring equipment

• Other compatible signaling devices

Remote Bypass Input

A bypass input allows the alarm to be integrated with compatible access-control or authorized-entry systems.

This can be useful when personnel need to temporarily open the protected door without triggering an unauthorized-exit alarm.

Key Control

The EAX-2500 uses a mortise-cylinder key control for alarm operation and reset.

The patented internal cam design automatically accommodates different compatible cylinder sizes without requiring traditional cylinder spacers.

Mortise cylinder is sold separately with the standard EAX-2500S.

Auto Rearm

The EAX-2500 provides field-selectable rearming options.

Depending on configuration, the alarm can be set for automatic rearming after the authorized bypass period or configured for manual reset.

This provides flexibility for different facility and security requirements.
