The V40 combines a 3/4" stainless steel deadlocking Pullman-type latchbolt, heavy-duty ribbed aluminum rail, modular outside-trim compatibility, non-handed construction, and a field-sizeable design. Detex states that the V40 withstands more than 1,400 lb of static pull force.

Standard V40 Configuration

According to Detex's current 2026 configuration schedule, the standard V40 includes:

• 628 Aluminum baseplate

A 48" device for 4' doors is also available.

Wide-Stile Application

The standard V40 is designed for:

• Wide-stile doors

• Flush doors

• Stiles approximately 4" or greater

For narrow-stile doors with approximately 2"–2-1/2" stiles, Detex offers the separate V40xNS configuration with an extended extrusion and lower-profile strike.

Fire-Rated Configuration

The fire-rated model is ordered as the appropriate FV40 configuration.

Detex lists the fire-rated V40 for metal single doors up to 4' x 10' with ratings up to 3 hours, and applicable paired doors with approved Detex fire-rated mullions.

Mechanical dogging must not be used where positive latching is required on a fire-rated opening. Specify the correct fire-exit hardware configuration and less-dogging/electrified options as required.
